This Hotel is small but perfectly formed, A recently refurbished property that keeps the charm of age with all the modern amenities. The room was beautifully appointed and spotless, high ceilings with old stone and a very comfortable bed, serviced every day. There was some street noise and there is a church nearby which has bells...but not to early! Fridge ,free safe, 2 bottles of water every day.
We stayed a little off season so the weather was not very good but that did not detract from our enjoyment of Crete. The hotel is located in the middle of the old city 5 min walk from the harbour with its many bars, less to a wide selection of fantastic eateries. Spyridovla welcomed us when we arrived and was always on hand to offer friendly advice on what to see where to go and where and what to eat. (Local knowledge is everything!) Nothing was to much trouble.
Breakfast is brought in every morning with a reasonable selection of fare to chose from. The coffee is awful though.
There are other facilities small pool... sauna.. which we did not utilise due.
Nothing was to much trouble
About ten steps to the main street where there are restaurants and shops galore. We stayed ten days and went to a different, delightful place to eat every night. The girls who share the 'desk' are the best you could wish to meet and make you feel like a friend from the moment you meet. The rooms are quite luxurious and so different from your usual hotel. Breakfasts have loads of choices of local food which is delicious. The hotel has a lift to the bedrooms but not down to the swimming pool which made it difficult for us but not to any agile person.
Antica is in a very central location, our room was very nice, bathroom was disappointing, showed over bath has to be handheld & taps were positioned behind so impossible to take a relaxing bath. The staff were really great & helpful& the place was very clean. But breakfast was a big let down. Food brought in not cooked fresh. Hot food kept warm for hours, eggs hard & inedible, fruit that had seen better days. The coffee was pretty ok, if you must stay in this very expensive hotel, opt for room only & eat out, trust me.
As we went into the beautiful house that has been converted into a small boutique hotel with 9 ensuite rooms, I noticed that TripAdvisor gave this lovely hotel a 9.3 rating - they are totally wrong - it should have been a 10+. Georgia, Vaso, Amalia and Adrianna looked after us so well - they were always on hand to help. Georgia was always on hand giving plenty of ideas of places/attractions to visit.
The beds were extremely comfortable and large, the shower great. We were given complimentary toiletries, robes, slippers, face clothes. Pool and beach towels were always available. The breakfast always plentiful, with fresh pastries and gorgeous Greek yoghurt with honey.
Rethymnon is a beautiful town and our stay was definitely enhanced by staying in this lovely hotel with such friendly and helpful staff. The location in the centre of the Old Town is ideal. The best time to visit is May or September when the crowds of tourists are (only slightly) less, but if you are visiting this part of Crete, then Antica Dimora Suites are the perfect base for your holiday.
We enjoyed our time in Rethymnon and were very happy staying at Antica Dimora Suites. We chose a junior suite with balcony and it was very quiet even though we were in the heart of the old town. The room was large and appointed with everything you would expect. It was cleaned daily and the breakfast buffet was very generous. There is no parking but there is a public car park near the four martyrs church (3min walk). A word of caution, the car park turns into a fruit and vegetable market on Thursday mornings making it near impossible to exit so best to find a street park on Wednesday nights. Georgia was very helpful and offered many suggestions for sightseeing around south and west Crete.
