Dr Holms Hotel

Overview
Situated in the epicenter of one of Norway’s most popular skiing destinations, Dr. Holms Hotel has attracted a guest list replete with celebrities, dignitaries, and elite families for generations. Originally used to facilitate a healthy clear-air environment for asthmatic patients in 1909, Dr. Ingebrigt Christian Holm opened the sanatorium that eventually became exquisite luxury accommodations for visitors to the mountain village of Geilo.
Having experienced World War II’s German occupation, several renovations, and a multitude of distinguished guests, the hotel has a century’s worth of history that is retold through the architecture, artwork, and antiques displayed throughout the property. Along with a newer stylish sector, Dr. Holmes Hotel has preserved a romantic English-style section of the grounds allowing guests a unique option for their stay.
While popular among winter sport enthusiasts, Dr. Holms Hotel proves to be an attractive destination any time of the year. With its mountains and forests, Geilo’s fresh mountain air promotes an active lifestyle with nature trails for walking and biking. Nearby cultural sights and a bevy of dining options leave guests delighted and entertained throughout their visit.
Dr Holms Hotel, a charter member of Historic Hotels Worldwide since 2011, dates back to 1909.
