Activities & Events

Dromoland Castle Resort is situated in a most desirable location for guests to enjoy an array of activities, ranging from fishing and cycling to clay shooting and archery.

Pony & Trap
Relaxing on an informative 30-minute ride on the estate’s pony and trap provides a delightful introduction to the history of the castle and estate.

Fishing can be arranged on Lake Dromoland, which is well-stocked with trout, perch, and other coarse fish. Guests may fish from the banks or one of the estate boats. Expert assistance from the estate’s ghillies is available by prior arrangement.

Walking and Jogging
With abundant acres of idyllic mature woodland and feral lakes, Dromoland has a number of pathways offering varied and interesting routes. Wildlife on the estate includes native red deer, pheasant, partridge, and many other country fauna.

The castle offers mountain bikes on a complimentary basis for guests who wish to pursue the many picturesque lanes and charming byways of the estate.

Clay Shooting
The estate has a dedicated shooting range fully equipped and ready for target practice.

Archery, a classic castle pursuit, is available to guests who wish to try this historic sport.

Horseback Riding
Nearby stables and a full equestrian center with horseback riding lessons are available.

Guests have a rare opportunity to experience live birds of prey on an introductory Hawk Walk. Instructors share their knowledge of the natural history of raptors, the role they play in the ecosystem, and the environmental threats they face, as well as the basics of the ancient sport of falconry.

The castle grounds host an 18-hole championship golf course redesigned by Irish golfing legend J.B. Carr, together with one of golf's great course architects, American Ron Kirby. The affiliated Golf Academy is a truly unique practice facility – one of the best in Ireland -- that includes 10 fully automated driving bays, putting greens, and a bunker. The bunker and chipping green offer a number of lies, slopes, and grass lengths on which to practice. There is also a riveted-face-links-style bunker, modeled on the famous “Road Hole” bunker on the 17th at St. Andrews.

The Spa at Dromoland premiered in 2007 and is a haven of peace and tranquility. Located within the castle walls, the spa was expertly designed to provide the ultimate Irish spa experience. Fresh flowers and scented candles, warm mood lighting, and the sounds of soft music ensure that guests emerge feeling relaxed, refreshed, and invigorated.

Guests may choose between two soothing and refreshing treatment ranges that will ensure relaxation and pampering to the fullest. The Anne Semonin Treatment Collection features a sensual combination of aromatic oils, trace elements, and marine ingredients blended with a classic French touch. The Voya Treatments use only 100% organic products and expertly incorporate the natural resource of marine elements.

Beauty treatments at Dromoland Castle Hotel are the perfect way to highlight a sensational Irish getaway. JESSANA is used for the very best in nail treatments, and guests will be pampered with Jane Iredale for expert makeup applications.

Two all-weather outdoor tennis courts are available at the castle, and racquets and balls can be reserved.

Fitness facilities within the castle walls include an indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, and fully equipped gymnasium.
