  • Wonderful

This picturesque fisherman's village is stunning. Knutholmen is the heart of the village. Beautiful rooms, delightful local food and very nice hosts. The shop is also very nice, do not miss out on the chocolate they make.

  • Pleasant stay

My room was not modern, but still quite good. Bathroom was large and modern. None of the TVs in the hotel seems to be working, probably disabled. You would rather spend your time in the bar or very good restaurant. Seafood is the specialty of the establishment.
The owner is extremely helpful with all requests for service or assistance. The room was located at some distance from the main building and restaurant, approx 5 min. walk. This is quite typical for the hotel as it comprises quite a lot of buildings all over the village. Quite acceptable.

  • Stunning

Great food, lovely service (especially the owner), large clean and modern rooms but still with a cozy and "home" feel to them. We lived 5 footsteps from the pier. Woke up to the sound of fishing boats and seagulls. Absolutely lovely.

  • Retro look, modern hotel

Knutholmen is a family run affair with a significant presence in Kalv?g. Svein the owner is very entertaining ensuring that all guests get a chance to hear the history of Knutholmen. The restaurant and bar is the focal point of the Kalv?g with a mix of locals and tourist visiting. Svein has his lobster and fish catch in barrels on the pier on view.

The accommodation is a short walk/drive away from the main reception. This is not your regular Western Europe hotel. The rooms are modern purpose built apartments with modern fittings despite the external retro fishing town look.

From what we can tell - all rooms were harbour/ sea-view.

Breakfast is your typical Norwegian affair with brown cheese and a selection of cereals, fresh bread, yoghurts, smoked fish, deli fillings.

A number of the restaurant staff seem to be students travelling through Norway. The restaurant menu is not overwhelming - has fresh seafood and always executed well.

    Tips:
Try the restaurant Lobster/Shellfish platter! Pricey but worth it!

Ask Svein about the local hiking trails.

Get up early to see the mirror like harbour water!

There's a Spar supermarket next to the tourist information centre.

  • Great hotel and restaurant

    by Jerry J on 2018-06-05 02:46 pm

We spend two days at this hotel . The rooms were clean , bright and quite . The view over the harbor is fantastic. Went fishing with the owners brother for a morning and we reeled in a 8 kilo torsk. The restaurant served an excellent lamb and fish dinner . Very efficient and friendly .i would highly recommend this hotel
