We got a family room with an extra bed. The extra bed is not comfortable at all, it was just a spring bed laid on the floor literally. The room and toilet should get more deep cleaning to feel relaxed. AC is very good. The price I could say is a bit expensive, although breakfast and walking tour is included. Breakfast options are limited especially for those who are not eating pork. The environment is good, staff is friendly. I might consider coming back again.

I refer to its Quezon City branch. The old opulent Juico Mansion is being transformed into the Manila version of the now famous heritage site in Bataan. Situated along Roosevelt Ave. in Quezon City, the Las Casas is full of promises. Upon entry one will immediately be in awe . From the nostalgic settings and ambience to its detailed interior. The Las Casas has transformed the original library into a restaurant managed by no less than the famed Margarita Fores of Cibo. They also have function rooms which used to be private dining room or bedroom of the old Juico Mansion.

They pride themselves of the best function room at the ground floor. The one with an original Amorsolo painting . The room can fit 20 people and one can avail of this for 20 thousand pesos all consummable. I tried to book this room for a very intimate occasion. We are only 10 pax. But still I wanted this room simply because this is the best room in the house. I was referred to a certain Jay-Ann who's in charge of booking. Long story short, my reaervation was declined because according to Jay-Ann the venue was fully booked. I opted for the second best room in the house but then again was told that all function rooms were already taken . I asked if there is a possibility of cancellation and was told that they have been fully
paid. So I settled for a table in the common dining area in the restaurant. But on the targetted date I noticed all the function rooms were empty and there was no event taking place. I asked one of the staffs and was told that there was no scheduled functions. I felt bad because I was willing to pay just to use the function rooms. I later found out the reason for their rejection; it was their christmas party . I had no problem with that only that Jay-Ann could've told me straight face that they are having their own party on the same date.

Nonetheless, I recommend this place for private dining, partys or even just chilling out. Photo worthy and good food. Definite coming back.

First of all, the place is very rich in the Philippine history. The design is very nice and it will really bring you back in time. The staff were all dressed in Filipino costumes that suit the atmosphere of the resort. Hospitality wise though, a lot can be improved:

    1. When we came in the resort with our car, we had to go to the lobby to check-in then go outside again to park our car. A jeepney eventually picked us up but it's just so inconvenient especially on a hot day. They should either add more parking spaces in the resort (near the rooms maybe) or offer Valet services.

    2. Food offerings were very few in each restaurant and some restaurants were even closed when we checked in. The food was great though but they should have more varieties. Breakfast buffet could still be improved. The food looked dull and options were very limited.

    3. The spa was great although it would be better if the lighting was yellow instead of white to match the ambiance. I wish there were a door separating the lobby from the massage beds as well to provide privacy. They also just turned on the air-con when we arrived. Beds smelled old as well.

    4. Although the rooms were very nice, the bathroom shower didn't have enough pressure. One of the rooms even had a clogged drain. We stayed on the 3rd floor, it was the topmost floor and didn't provide an elevator which is alright since it matched the theme of the resort. For future guests with disabilities, make sure to request the first floor.

I would have to commend Maricris, our tour guide for the River tour and Walking tour, she was very knowledgable and warm. Ramon, our bellman, was very accommodating and pleasant. Lloyd, the front desk agent, was very nice as well.

I would go back in 5-10 years to see the changes in the resort, since most of the places are still under construction. I just hope their quality of service will improve as well.

There are definitely a lot of great photo ops as this place successfully captured the ambiance of the 1800s, complete with canals and gardens. But that's it.
    1. For a resort retreat setting, your first irritant is you have to drop ALL yor stuff at the reception area and drive out to park your car outside the facility and take a decrepit jeepney to get back in the reception area. Or walk back.
    2. You take the same dilapidated jeepney where you uncomfortably need to bend forward to sit to take your stuff to your cabana. No elevators and I was at the 3rd floor.
    3. The 1800s motif cabana/room is unique but they over did it...the main door have uneven panels that you can see through, cabinet doors don't close and you can barely see yourself on the old faded crimped mirrors.
    4. There is hot water but the pressure is low and all knobs go the wrong direction...shower and sink both.
    5. The fridge wouldn't cool my water and the room safe had no batteries.
    6. I needed to get some ice and call in the warm fridge and the non working safe but reception doesn't pick up until after my 3rd attempt and after waiting for at least 2 minutes ringing each time.
    7. There was no ice availble. Seriously.
    8. The room have low watt bulbs so I try to open the drapes that wouldn't move to let the light in and surprise...!!! the windows won't open and it's made of capiz so I can't see out.
If only there's no wedding I need to be a part of tomorrow, I would pack my stuff and leave right now. Even if the drive back to the city would take me 4 hours. Unfortunately I have to be at the wedding.

    Where do I begin....

I am currently a guest at this resort and I am a bit perplexed. This place could really be awesome BUT the service at the all the restaurants is awful. The work that went into placing these historical houses and incredibly ornate & detailed craftsmanship is awesome ... but it seems that they are not keeping it up. There are cobwebs hanging from the chandelier in my room, the sheets were dirty when I arrived, the in room safe does not work, the TV remote does not work - the TV barely works, room keys only work half the time, bugs flying around in room, no bathroom AC, random cats all over the place..... just a bit of the bad.

Now for the good.... the employees are nice. While they might not be good with the service ... they are super nice. The water activities are awesome. The beach is beautiful. Everything here is quite beautiful actually - it is just so unfortunate that everything seems inconsistent. Of course the "rooms" are going to be different as there are 6-12 in each house; however, some have hairdryers, some do not.... some have great AC, some do not (no price difference). I wish I could rate this place higher but unless they fix the inconsistencies and poor service I do not see this place lasting long.
