The Lenox

The Lenox in BostonThe Lenox in Boston

Overview

As much a Boston landmark as Fenway Park or Faneuil Hall, the handsome Italianate structure in Copley Square famously known as the Lenox was built in 1900 in just eight months at a cost of $1.1 million--one of the first hotels constructed in Boston's Back Bay. For years the Lenox sat adjacent to a railroad yard, which made it convenient for wealthy guests like opera star Enrico Caruso to pull their rail cars right up to hotel.

The glory days of rail travel have since passed, but the Lenox is still the most attractive, most convenient, most alluring hotel in the city. The Lenox has been family-run for three generations, providing an intimate and elegant atmosphere delivered with a personal touch that's truly absent in all hotel chains. The hotel's century-long reputation for excellence is justified, but the Lenox equally proud of initiating a modern, comprehensive environmental program, which includes more than 70 creative recycling and conservation measures.

A $20 million renovation that took three years touched upon every one of the 214 guest rooms and suites. Each is now outfitted in a variety of soft color schemes with brass chandeliers, crystal lamps, rich dark wood furniture and marble bathrooms and comes with numerous amenities, including voice mail, hair dryers, bathrobes and umbrellas. Many guest rooms also have working fireplaces. Its location in Boston is just as ideal as its rooms, offering easy access to an array of Beantown attractions including its downtown offices, theaters, art galleries and more.

The Lenox, a charter member of Historic Hotels Worldwide since 2013, dates back to 1900.
