Overview

The Phoenix Hotel Yogyakarta - MGallery by Sofitel origins begin in the 1890s, when Chinese entrepreneur Kwik Djoen Eng arrived in the Indonesian city of Yogyakarta to establish himself within the region’s spice trade. By 1918, he constructed a beautiful manor in the center of Yogyakarta. The building is an example of Indonesian-Dutch architecture. After the Great Depression, the manor sat dormant until another businessman transformed it into a luxurious boutique hotel. Following World War II, the hotel began to develop a prestigious reputation for its legendary hospitality. Since 2009, Sofitel has operated this magnificent historical treasure as the Phoenix Hotel Yogyakarta.

These beautifully refurbished accommodations provide the foremost in modern comfort without having to compromise their famed historical character.
