  • Started out not so good but in the end it was better

    Stayed last week. At check in, we found we did not have a handicapped room but they changed that for us. Then the first night there was no A/C and it was hot. They had me reset the thermostat but it did not work. They did fix it the next day thought and temp was good. For be9ng handicapped the beds are very high. Next year I will have to bring a stool for my mom to climb into bed. Other than that it was a good stay.

  • Average room with worst view!

    Looks can be deceiving in expensive hotels. We booked a room for 5 nights here and expected a nice room for our $1000. What we got was a view of a wall and steel cables. The room was clean enough except you could see rings from glasses on the bedside table. I felt like we were given the worst room in the hotel. Facing a wall and next to the elevators. The staff was very friendly, but I also feel like the more you spend, the less extras you get. Coffee brought to the room ends up costing $14 because they add 23% gratuity, $3 delivery fee, and then the staff actually told me to tip them on top of that. I was very generous with my tips and didn't need to be told to tip. I would take a Hampton Inn with my free coffee and breakfast over my "wall" view any day. The pool was closed daily from 8:00 am -6:00 pm, so no swimming was done either. They had plenty of tennis courts outside, but the pool was inside and unusable.

  • A beautiful hotel to add to your bucket list!

    The Amway Grand Plaza combines an elegant historic hotel with a modern tower, blended beautifully in the middle with well-matched small shops and restaurants. I stayed at The Pantlind during a business trip and felt perfectly at home for three days. My room had all the modern amenities with a design focus on the old-fashioned accents. The bed was immensely comfortable and I had no trouble at all with noise or light while sleeping. There are many restaurants, coffee shops, and other spots (like a dueling piano bar right across the street!) within walking distance and I tried many spots by myself and with other business folks at my conference. The hotel is also connected to DeVos Place through an extremely convenient sky bridge, making the location not only beautiful and comfortable but super convenient. I highly recommend the Amway Grand Plaza and will stay there the next time I am in Grand Rapids.

  • Rendezvous Bar and John Shea Trio

    I had a couple ask me, ( from the other side of the State) " Where is there good live music? " They happened to be in their 50's like us and my eyes opened like a puffer fish. Ground level Amway Grand... Rendezvous Lounge. John Shea Trio, Friday Night.The Acoustics are great, Shea interacts with the crowd and backs it up with recognizable jazz Ellington, Getz and Bacharach. Ashley was our server... Personable and Enthusiastic! Good recommendations too! These people are pros!

  • Why is the heat on with the AC?

    Heater was on. It was too hot. The AC was cranked but so was the heat registers by the windows. So..It' was hot vs. cold. Which is kind of 'whatver' situaation but the front desk didn't care. Blew us off. And that was that.
