  • Unique and chic in a beautiful barrio

by hagcel on 2020-03-12 10:20 am

Casa Habita may not be for everyone but it certainly was for us. We loved the exquisitely designed public spaces, the intimate scale, the friendly service and the local neighbourhood. The continental breakfast was ample and delicious, and the welcome tequila was appreciated. The hotel is situated in a beautiful neighbourhood full of cafes and restaurants, fascinating architecture, and tree-lined streets. The location was perfect for exploring the city. While the service was personable, there were missed opportunities to create an exceptional stay. For example, there was a lack of response in email communication and the pool area was not well-maintained. Our room, which faced the street, was very quiet but sparsely decorated. There was also a lack of space in the bathroom to place personal items or hang towels. However, we would be happy to return for another visit!

    Dear hagcel,
Thank you for your lovely review of Casa Habita. We are thrilled to hear you enjoyed your stay and our staff was able to make it even better. We strive to provide personalized service to each of our Guests and we are glad to hear we accomplish that and belive when o said, doble thank you becasue these kind of reviews with well appointed feedback is the way people in the world should comunicate. Whe surely take in mind the pool situation. However the designd of the hotel is one of those you love or not. And most of the lack in space and generals are part of the idea of the designers. We look forward to welcoming you back on your next trip to Guadalajara.

  • Ok if you donât care for sleeping

    by gustavod893 on 2020-03-08 01:13 am

The rooms are nice an spacious, service is very good as was the restaurant. Would be nice to have a kettle or coffee maker in the room. The location is great and close to many restaurants and bars. The bars are just too loud, extremely loud until 5 am.

Thank you for your lovely review of Casa Habita. We are thrilled to hear you enjoyed your stay and our staff was able to make it even better. We strive to provide personalized service to each of our Guests and we are glad to hear we accomplish that and you enjoy the whole experience, I do apologize for the issues with the "bar next door" its a current issue cause the place doesn?t open regularly, but i do belive it?s a little bit hard a 2 stars raiting just cause of that. The other thing is that we avoid being the standard buisness hotel thats why we don?t have a coffe maker, to strive more personal connection. We look forward to welcoming you back on your next trip to Guadalajara.

  • Great boutique hotel

by ChicagoM on 2020-02-18 02:51 pm

We loved this hotel. We had a large room with an interesting decor and a large window looking out onto the city. The hotel has a nice pool area with many different areas where a few people can gather to talk or read. The people at the hotel are friendly, too. All these things made for a relaxing visit to Guadalajara and we look forward to staying there again when we return to that city.

  • Don't bother - stay elsewhere

    by Ed V on 2020-01-16 06:18 pm

Platinum member. No breakfast. Upgraded to "Suite." Hallway from elevator to the room is pitch black - no light, just the outside natural light. Walk into the room and it is a cement floor. Half room is taken up by the bed. The other half has a closet as a divider with nothing but a small table (desk) and single chair along with a small (2 foot) circular table with another chair. That's it. That's a "suite." No coffee in the room. Not even a kettle or coffee maker. Bring your own. We stayed two nights. On the morning that we checked out, the water pressure was down to a slow trickle. Could not get a shower with such a trickle. Lastly, the floor to ceiling windows are nice except when they face an office building - easy for someone to see you parading around the room. The other large window had nice views for those on the balcony to see in. If this meets Marriott standards, I would be surprised.

Location? It's 100 pesos to Centro if the hotel calls the cab, we hailed our own and it cost 70 pesos. For location, I would opt for the NH Collection or the Portabello. Both are smack dab in the middle of Centro and have great reviews.

Food? Go across the street and find Don Ramon's portable taco stand. The chorizo and steamed potato tacos were excellent - take it from a Mexican who grew up with real homemade Mexican food. Google Tacos Don Ramon. 12 pesos per taco. 3-4 will be a full meal. That's like 2-3 bucks for breakfast.

    Dear Ed V,
Thank you for your review of Casa Habita. We have both to understand. We offer a deluxe, stylish vintage Hotel that pretty much everyone loves for the design at is the number 1 in the city. But of course we are not a standard brand with the same kind of amenities or coffe in the room. We go more for the future of hospitality and strive in amazing service and not standard old school hotel brands. Sorry about the presure of the water, it was a particular issue of the shower and was solved.

Some of us prefer boutique stylish hotels in spot areas and some look for traditional standard brand hotels. The city offers everything and I hope you found what you are looking for. In any case, we look forward to welcoming you back on your next trip to Guadalajara if u feel like it.

  • Style over substance?

by vdelacru on 2020-01-04 08:28 am

I really did want to like this hotel, but we found it so uncomfortable that we just packed up after one night (paying for three nights we didn't use). So what happened? The hotel is certainly stylish and the design is interesting (albeit dated and a bit cold). There are bikes for guests' use outside, the best restaurants in town are all in the area, and certainly this has been hyped as the hip/artsy place to be in Guadalajara. Unfortunately, however, there was just too much that annoyed us for what was supposed to be a comfortable, relaxed vacation centered around a hotel: (1) the room's bathroom felt like it was part of the room, with a mere flimsy sliding door separation and there was no space whatsoever to place hygiene items -- just a sink; (2) the room would get unbearably hot, perhaps because of all the glass?; (3) the small tv extends from an arm way to the side of the bed--it is too uncomfortable to watch without any neck strain; (4) the pillows are too thick/huge--they were driving me nuts and after some insomnia (exacerbated by the heat), I opted to just sleep without one; (5) the gym was amongst the smallest I have seen. The place also just felt a bit depressing, with not a soul to be seen in the common areas. Not sure if it was because of the holidays... We ended up going to the NH Providencia and loved it. There we actually had a very spacious room with a great view of the ritzy part of town and all the comforts one would want from a hotel. And, because it hasn't been marketed in all the style and design magazines, came at a fraction of the price.
