    The Pink Palace....always a go-to destination for our weekends. Great beach, pool and staff. 5/5 Don't miss it.

    Historic hotel with all the charm missing from most places today.

    Some rooms can be quite small with tiny bathrooms, so pick wisely. Is also a bit of a convention destination. So beware there too. We had a late flight on a Sunday and could not get late checkout due to large groups coming and going that day.

    With all of that, still one of our favorites.

    We didn't stay at the Don CeSar, so this review is our impression as a visitor to the hotel lobby and the beach behind it.

    Do you online research first before visiting. Many US Presidents and celebrities have stayed here. It is a beautiful hotel. At the concierge, simply ask them for a brochure that explains the history of this iconic place.

    Then you are allowed to venture out to the back and onto the beach facing the Gulf of Mexico. The sand is like powder, so so fine and white!

    So for a short stop, maybe an hour or so, do visit this historical place. You won't be disappointed.

  • Service.. what service...??

    A 6 night stay at the Don Cesar.. really hard to be impressed with this hotel.. as a Savvy traveller staying at hotels a few times each month around the world it's fair to say I've some experience of what to expect.. what I did not expect was the following ..
    Room not cleaned without asking at c 5pm, not enough towels for a family of four, a very rude lady at the Rowe restaurant on the first day who said we could only eat inside because she couldn't be bothered to clear a table outside until I insisted..guys on beach helped find sun loungers and table but only if you asked, quite happy to watch you source your own tables from a stack by where they sat chatting away..lady walked round pool all day never asking if you want a drink .. would have thought their job was to try help the owners make some profits..asked to speak to manager who said he would be a few minutes .. after 15 mins still no appearance at reception.. summed the service up really! If this was my business I would be making some changes
    The rooms are tired, phone doesn't work, coffee not replenished ..
    a hotel living off its past and staff reactive at best..
    3 star at best...won't be returning or recommending ..

    We love this place ! Talk about customer service ! Every time we come to Florida we come here . Trus customer service was so much better than we expected , the food and amenities were also amazing and we can't wait to come back

  • Great Experience, Okay Hotel

    First let me say that we decided to come here because we almost always get sick in Mexico. I love the beaches there but my fianc? didn't want to take the risk so we settled for the other side of the gulf. The trip was mostly MY vacation while the fianc? wrote furiously upstairs for a deadline on a script.

    That being said, all I ask for is a good beach, sun, and a drink in my hand at all times. When it came to that, Don Cesar was PERFECT. I went to sit on the beach at the same time every morning and I knew the guys by name. They always took good care of me! I never sat at the pool because, kids screaming everywhere-I can't. But it looked GREAT and the pool restaurant and bar was fast and friendly every time!!

    For me, the actual hotel is meh. It's hard to justify spending $600 a night on a room that doesn't have enough outlets, poor lighting options, is sometimes musty, and all of which, needed a paint job on the ceilings. We stayed in 3 different rooms due to requested upgrades and I was surprised to find that every room had a quirk. Whether a strange layout or a super small bathroom (we live in NYC so this is surprising, it was a little disconcerting. Not to mention the last suite we were in clearly hadn't been lived in in a while and was badly in need of new towels and new carpet. Yes the hotel is pink which WE LOVE, but I think it has certain architectural limitations due to the fact that it used to be a hospital. (Apparently the hotel is haunted, but unfortunately, we didn't have any strange experiences)...OTHER THAN that my fianc?'s wallet turned up missing 2 days in AND WAS NEVER FOUND. Which is weird because this means either a ghost or a housekeeper walked off with it...and both options are disturbing. It's been a month and we still never heard back.

    All in all, the experience was fine. My time on the beach was ideal, I just wish my fianc? had had a more modern, spacious experience in the room. However, we did have room service and the food was delish--the same for all the restaurants. The staff was super kind, even when they over charged us and had to fix the mistake at check out. Do inspect that receipt because the charges are numerous!

    We had a good time nonetheless but we won't be returning.
