Second time staying this time with work.
Very friendly staff and a wonderful welcome.
Room 229 very big and beautiful.
Didn't have breakfast this time due to having to leave early.
Will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone thinking about staying in Bath.
Looking forward to staying again in the future.
    Lovely

  • Hospitality to hospitality

We had a really enjoyable stay here at the Francis. All the staff we encountered were a delight. We particularly liked the bar and lounge it has a lot of character and the bar staff are very friendly . Room was pretty average to be honest. The thing that really made our stay was the reception team. Katherine checked us in and she gave us answers before we even had the questions! Such a breathe of fresh air , Such a delight ! Another worthy of note is Paige, initially we thought she was a concierge as there wasn't anyone obvious around and when asking where to eat her knowledge was outstanding! She was also offering to call and arrange bookings so you can see why we would think that!
only after finding out she was a receptionist were we impressed as she's clearly willing to overlap in jobs. We'd even seen both Katherine and Paige helping with luggage. Both real assets to the team. We ate in the brasserie blanc ,again ,food was pretty average but we absolutely loved Alex she has a great level of service and fantastic smile. I've read previous reviews about how the staff really make a difference but you really don't appreciate it until you're here. They all made a very average hotel seem so much better! Highly recommend

  • Great location in Bath

    by odo3680 on 2020-02-20 11:51 am

We arrived in the lashings of rain so it was nice to find the hotel despite the roadworks and diversions and to be able to park at the back.
We were too early for check in but one of the two rooms was ready and we were pleased to gain access to the room.
Check in staff were friendly and helpful and we booked a table to eat in the hotel restaurant that night. Shame the table was right by the door.
The hotel is well located to access bath on foot. The car remained parked until after we checked out.
There is road noise and roadworks began at 08:30 on Monday morning.
The rooms were not interleading but adjacent to each other and we asked for a roll out bed for our daughter who is 11.
It is a pain travelling as a family of five and this hotel says "from 13 years old, children are considered as adults"
So the roll out bed was added to the feature bedroom as the twin was too small for the extra bed.
Minor issues with slow running drain in the bathroom sink and bedside light not working but the room was otherwise well equipped and free water!
My wife found the bed in the feature room uncomfortable. A dent in the mattress.
Breakfast and Dinner in the restaurant were both good and the pistachio souffl? a highlight.
Yes, we would come back here as we like bath and the hotel is good value.

  • Comfortable hotel close to all the sites

We stayed at the Francis Hotel for two nights at the start of February Half Term, as a birthday treat. It is ideally situated, within a short walk distance from all the major Bath sites and shopping areas, which allowed us to pop back and forth whenever we needed. Front of house staff are friendly and welcoming and it was a bonus to be able to borrow a brolly when heading out into the changeable weather. We stayed in a Superior double room which was located at the back of the hotel overlooking Barton Street and as such, was lovely and quiet. The queen-sized bed was very comfortable, which resulted in a good sleep on both nights. We ate dinner in the Brasserie on Sunday evening, mainly because there weren't many other restaurants open around the city. The food was fine - plenty of it and not too pricey - but we were expecting something slightly more 'wow' from a Raymond Blanc franchise. Overall, this is a good place to stay for a weekend break in Bath. The only reason I have rated the Francis Hotel as a 4 and not a 5 is due to the ?40 car-parking charge for a 2-night stay, which seemed steep, but perhaps it is an incentive for guests to travel by train. The time limit of 2pm on our day of departure also meant that we couldn't spend an extra day relaxing in Bath but in this inclement weather, 2 o'clock was probably the right time to hit the road for home.

  • Valentineâs Day stay

All the staff are friendly and helpful. We were upgraded to a room at the front of the hotel which was lovely. The food was delicious and the deco is beautiful. Will definitely stay here again. If you are a light sleeper it's best to stay at the back of the hotel.
