  • Small hotel in Old Merida

by CPhillipson on 2019-04-09 01:06 am

Lovely old building well situated for exploring Old Merida. Car parking available. Quite a bit of traffic noise from adjoining streets. Staff at breakfast not always the most helpful and attentive, but seemed to dramatically improve on our last morning there. Odd.

  • Very good location but noisy

    by ANTONIS F on 2019-02-11 01:40 am

That was the second hotel during our trip in Mexico.
The location is in historical center of M?rida, just three blocks from the central plaza. The building is very beautiful and the room was spacious but very noisy, during all night we hear a sound like in elevator and the reception informed us that it was a water pump. The sheet has a sing of dead moskito and towels were very used.Check well before getting in to the room. Our room had the number 207.

  • Nice, but......

    by 184jodyn on 2019-02-08 04:23 am

As another reviewer stated "it has it's good and bad." The hotel is quite lovely, reasonably priced, and the service is good. We had a few issues at check-in but they were quickly remedied. The food is good and the staff is very kind. The hotel is also conveniently located, a quick walk to the main square, Santa Lucia Park, or Santa Ana Park, and transportation is readily available if you're not up for a walk.

However, the rooms are in need of maintenance and better housekeeping practices. The outside sliding door on our ground level room was broken, the safe wouldn't close properly, there was no hot water in the shower, and for some odd reason they don't use fitted sheets on the bed. Instead they use a flat sheets which are too small for a king size bed, thus we were "short sheeted" every night (see the pictures). They fixed the door immediately and "looked into" the safe and hot water situation but didn't fix the problem. I never even mentioned the sheet issue.

  • It has goods and bads

by Chamarripi on 2018-08-03 06:51 am

We stayed for almost a a week, as our family vacation. The hotel has good and bad sides.
The good side: it's located in downtown M?rida, a short walking distance to the main square, Cathedral and Paseo Montejo. The building is a luxurious colonial house from the henequ?n era of Yucat?n, decorated in a Neoclassical style. It has a nice pool, and the personnel is very helpful and friendly. The restaurant serves from breakfast to supper, and there's also a bar. There's WiFi all around the hotel, although with different passwords, so you have to log into all of them on your phone the first day. It also has a parking lot free of charge.
The bad side: it lacks maintenance and it shows. The first day the bathroom's ceiling collapsed. We were assigned to another room. The new room had a clogged bathtub and the air conditioner leaked so much we had to put the dustbin below. The next day they were very kind and fixed everything. Some areas are not clean enough. The hotel should pay attention to the general cleanliness. Also, the TV was too small.
In general, the hotel is quite nice, located close to main square, personnel is very friendly and helpful, the price is fair, but it needs some maintenance and cleaning. We enjoyed our stay here.

  • Highly recommended - fantastic, luxury hotel at budget prices.

From the very beginning of the stay, we were trying to figure out the catch - the property is an amazing place for an amazing value, and we couldn't figure out why it was so inexpensive and not packed.

To clarify a few previous reviews: The wifi in our room (3rd floor) was excellent - fast, consistent, etc. I was able to work remotely effectively. Either previous reviewers had a different room or the issue has been fixed. The wifi was also fine throughout the property. Everything else seems to be on par with previous reviews - pool excellent, lobby gorgeous, AC fantastic, etc.

Location: It's only 2-3 blocks from one of the best squares, good restaurants, etc. The immediate block isn't really "happening," but it certainly felt safe, and very convenient. Bellman: Fantastic service and a real sense of ownership/investment in the property. Same with housekeeping.

Front desk staff: No issues really, but not very enthusiastic and more flat in their interaction. No service errors.
