The good - great location and views from the corner room we had - beautiful spot for the sunrise. The room was a bit old/tired but overall clean and fine for a short stay. We found most of the valets / porters to be helpful and dedicated - James was our favorite. If you stay, be sure to walk Banyan drive to see all of the trees planted in the 30s by celebrities!
The not so good - Room 935 - top floor on teh NE corner - fabulous view from our corner room BUT the AC units for more than just our room is on the roof of this room - we know that b/c we turned ours off in hopes to quiet it and it never stopped. It was SO loud our room actually vibrated. When we asked to be moved, it was clear that they are aware of this issue but still book the room at an elevated price for the view. Fortunately, they were able to move us to a comparable room (same corner 2 floors down) so it was appropriately resolved.
The other concern was when we had them hold our luggage they left it out in the open in a walkway near the valet stand and said they were too busy to put it away. My husband had his work computer so did not want it sitting out there in the open where anyone could have simply grabbed his backpack and walked away with it with no one noticing. Fortunately, we were able to find a couple valets that (with a little extra tip) made the effort to put it away for us.

  • The worst luxury hotel possible

by dvandjay on 2020-02-19 08:18 am

Our water view room overlooked the hotel driveway and reception area with only a tiny peek at the bay. But, the worst was the inadequate air-conditioning system. Since none of the windows at this hotel open, it was essential to use A/C. However, cycling on and off, it sounded like a jumbo jet departure. Impossible to get a good nights sleep.

Add to this a lumpy mattress, a huge bathtub in the middle of the room circa 1980 and mold in the grout of the shower. The staff seemed to be totally uninterested in their jobs or in providing good customer relations. Self parking is in the lot across the street from the hotel which forces guests to rely on valet parking. Hilton needs to be ashamed of this property.

  • Could be a 5

We stayed here for 3 nights in a junior suite with an extended lanai. This room is more expensive but worth it for the view and location. If you are thinking about it, just do it. The room had 3 sliders to the extended balcony. Awesome views.
The reason we could not give it a 5 star rating is the the kitchen. We booked this room because it had a kitchenette which included 2 burners. The cookware, appliances and accessories were very limited or non existent. There is no toaster, blender, only a couple of plates etc. The coffee pot consisted of a little machine, one cup at a time. The hotel provides the coffee packets. In the lobby, they do have free coffee available from 6-9 am which was nice since the room maker was so small and inefficient.
The room is very limited on storage areas. No where to unpack casual clothes. There was a closet to hang some stuff up.
Like others have said, the bathtub is quite steep so be careful getting in and out.
All of the staff were friendly. We were able to check in about 3:30. It was quick but throughout our stay, when we would pass through the lobby, the lines were very long and only 2 check in staff available.
The elevators are very slow also.
The valet parking is included in the resort fee and although the staff were very fast and efficient, we chose to park across the street in the self parking. It is a short walk.
Overall, we had good stay and would return if in the area.

  • Great place to stay

We got a deal online to stay here and I thought it would be a mid range stay but it was absolutely awesome. Great beds, great pool area, restaurant food was great except for breakfast. Very hospitable staff. They gave us extra "check in cookies" when requested. (You'll understand when you get ethereal)

  • Ridiculous to sublime

The grounds and building are simply gorgeous- the lobby is open and airy and looks out on big beautiful garden like space - pool and bridge to "Coconut Island." Adjacent to hotel is lovely public park. Room was good value with lanai. The problem is the place is ginormous and there is virtually no hospitality. Don't try valet parking unless you have a lot of luggage - long wait times to get our car. No virtual checkin or it didn't work. Waited on long line to check in and for anything else we needed (call direct to housekeeping- they answer the phone). Hundreds of rooms and 2 at the front desk made wait times unmanageable.
