  • Quick Family Get Away

    by Nanamomma01 on 2020-01-20 02:22 pm

We visited the Del Coronado as a quick family outing. We were traveling in a family group of 3 adults and a 5 year old. We were welcomed warmly and treated graciously. The beach is perfect for families and the views are spectacular especially at sunset.

  • Old and in need of updating/cleaning

by CeraphinL on 2020-01-20 12:41 am

I stayed here on a business trip and was looking forward to it unfortunately it did not live up to expectations. First the positives the room had a good view of the pacific and the gym was actually really good for a hotel. That being said my room was filthy, the vent in the bathroom looked like it had not been cleaned since they opened in the 1800s. There was mildew in the bathroom, the fixtures were old and rusted, the outlets were in bad shape and the bathroom was tiny with one sink. The hotel was being remodeled which it desperately needs but this made getting around the hotel a pain and there was construction noise most of the time. The food was lackluster and the bars on the beach closed by 8pm. I am glad that I was not on vacation it would have been a wasted trip. Maybe they will improve in a year or so when construction is complete.

  • Save your Money!

    by John L on 2020-01-20 07:11 am

I was looking forward to our stay at the Del and was terribly disappointed. Hotel under construction. NO warning from Hilton or the Del. This place really tired. I expected old but not run down. Brunch is in Ballroom not Crown Room. Rooms need remodeling, astro turf needs to be replaced, Lobby is dark, really dark. People friendly and location great. Stay in town and come over for a visit and save yourself money and disappointment.

  • A Little of Everything

    by O350QCrebeccas on 2020-01-19 08:05 am

Yes, the construction was a bummer, but construction and remodeling is a must for such a historical property to continue operating. Actually, the most annoying of the noise was taking place on the beach as they were dismantling a huge temporary steel beamed tent structure; far more annoying than the construction out front as one wants to sit on the balcony or beach and enjoy the sounds of the ocean. The location is phenomenal. Beautiful, clean beach. Easy walk to Orange St. for restaurants, drinks, shopping. Reception and concierge were excellent. Only complaints aside from the construction noise, which really can't be helped, were the ridiculous rules for use of the spa pool and hot tub, and the paltry in-room coffee and tea selections. For $800/night I expected better.

  • New Year's Stay

    by 71JasonM on 2020-01-18 12:21 am

We are a family of four staying over the New Year Holiday. I loved the location on the beach-couldnt be better, Also there are several nearby restaurants within walking distance. We had a great time with activities such as having a firepit on the beach for Smores and hotdogs, and iceskating.
What brings the review to a 4 is the significant crowds-many people walking through the hotel who arent staying. The hotel was loud also -we heard people walking/running outside our room frequently. The hotel is currently undergoing a large renovation so I suspect the crowded conditions were exacerbated by that.
