  • Great location, hit'n'miss rooms

    The location is great - just down from the palace and walkable to the market and restaurants.

    But my initial reaction was disappointment. The rooms are not as lovely as the photos suggest. They seem suffer from low ceilings - and not just the top floor 'attic' rooms.

    The first room had ripped fabric on the furniture and un-hoovered carpets.
    The second had a huge stain on the carpet and thick dust on the air-con intake vent - which is at door height - it clearly had not been cleaned in years.

    I was moved down to a third floor room with slightly higher ceilings. This room was clean and better maintained. All the rooms seem to suffer with paint falling off the ceilings of the showers due to lack of ventilation and a near impossible to fathom washbasin tap.

    Windows are small. Overall it feels like an interior designer has been let loose on a budget hotel.

    Clarins shower wall-attached bulk dispensers were not refilled when empty.

    On the ground floor, things are better - the bar area and breakfast area and breakfast were perfectly pleasant.

    Overall - quite pricey, even for the location. I think management need to go round and check each room thoroughly.

  • Very nice

    We loved the bar area and lobby. Beautiful. The room was large, not huge, but large enough. It was decorated very nicely and the bathroom was too. The hotel gave me gorgeous flowers and another treat for my birthday!! Lovely!

  • Great location but expensive

    Stayed here a number of times in its original incarnation as the 'Pullman Ch?teau de Versailles' now renamed after a bit of a facelift to the Le Louis - McGallery.

    Reception desk staff always helpful and friendly, rooms modernised not for the better as all the period style furniture has been replaced with the standard hotel offering.

    Breakfast gets slightly worse each year, many years ago you got a proper pot of coffee, now you have to serve yourself from flask as though you're on a conference!
    No more pots of jam on the table, and the quality of the breakfast offering has had a noticeable 'budget cut'.

    Shame, as the location to the Chateau can't be beaten.

    We also stayed at an Accor Mercure further up the road, and have to say it's way better value.

Besides, as part of Accor's global sustainability program, more and more hotels including Le Louis do not use individual portioned jams anymore to limit our waste. However, different varities of jam are still available in big pots on the central buffet table. Over the last years, breakfast choice has not been reduced and has even been of superior quality, as we have progressively focused on local, fresh and/or organic products.

  • Luxury Without the Hassle

    Superbly located close to the Chateau, the Le Louis hotel was comfortable, with an excellent staff and one of the best beds I have ever slept on. You can walk to almost any of the attractions Versailles has to offer, with ease. Breakfast in the hotel was OK, not great, but there are so many great patisseries to visit, there is no need to eat in house. I would go back to this hotel for sure.

  • A lovley getaway

    Me and my fiance stayed at the hotel for two night. When we arrived we were greeted in the reception. The staff parked our car and took our bags up to our room, a very nice toutch. The room was nice, the bed was heavenly with the most gigant quilt I have ever seen. We sleep really well. The dinner in the restaurant was top 10 I have ever tasted. We ate there both nights, with no reservation. The last night it would have been better if we booked a table (due to staff/guest ratio). Breakfast also really good and I am kind of picky on that subject. Good variation and nice cheeses. Would really really recommend!
