Hotel Schweizerhof Luzern

Overview
Five generations of superb hoteliers have demonstrated their unparalleled commitment to providing an incomparable stay at the legendary Hotel Schweizerhof Luzern in Lucerne, Switzerland. Built in 1845, Hotel Schweizerhof Luzern is one of the few hotels in Switzerland with national significance.
Melchior Berri, a well-known Swiss architect from Basel, designed the hotel in a symmetrical neo-classical style. Having crafted the monumental Basel Museum as well as stately city halls in Bern and Zurich, Berri was accomplished in neo-classicism balance and design. Hotel Schweizerhof Luzern’s commanding presence, elaborate masonry, and timeless architectural features are aesthetically pleasing as well as functionally practical in the authentic neo-classical tradition.
Stately marble columns, intricately crafted floors, and delicately molded ceilings have been carefully preserved, illustrating the exceptional quality and regal care provided over the years. Emperors and empresses, queens and kings, writers and musicians have all been guests at the Hotel Schweizerhof Luzern. Tolstoy wrote one of his works here; Wagner completed Tristan and Isolde and also met Ludwig II here.
Hotel Schweizerhof Luzern’s original 19th century architecture has been carefully preserved, and the interior design of the rooms is truly incomparable. The Hotel Schweizerhof Luzern reflects all the splendor of the 19th century, while also providing an infrastructure which accommodates everything needed for today’s modern hotel operations.
The Hotel Schweizerhof Luzern has been family-owned and operated since 1861 with five generations of family tradition. The principle of hospitality has been passed down through the ages as not only a legacy but also as a passion, and that same desire continues today as the family endeavors to provide legendary service to all welcomed guests.
