Two nights
This is a historic mansion turned into a motel. We really appreciated the art and the history of the art. Marius in the restaurant was very good at explaining available items from the menu. The food was excellent and he was very accurate in describing the complimentary aspects of the desserts. My wife liked the room but I felt it was just average with the exception of four excellent pieces of original art we enjoys. Be aware, the hotel is situated in a very cramped suburb-type section of this area.

Location and hotel is top. Rest is below average
The hotel itself and the surrounding area is just wonderfull.
But some of the staff seem to have lost the love for their job a long time ago.
When checking in the person at front desk was in a phone call. 4-5minutes waiting without the person giving you the "just 1minute sign" is ALLWAYS weirtd. At check in they also give you a pamplet of the hotels history. Give me 3-4minutes of your time and talk enthusiasticly about it.
Bar was not staffed, and they forgot our order.
Again. Hotel is lovely and location is wonderfull, but staff imo seems to have lost the spark. -
Some things you laugh at and other you don’t
We stayed here for two nights to see a different part of Norway... the room a mini suite was a good size and we had great pillows ( we don't get those small pillows we have found in Europe)
You laugh off
Finding people with dogs and cats everywhere ... they all think you love their precious like they do.
The curtains that just don't close when the sun is up at 3:00 am
The Gull enjoying cleaning up the food left on the outside terrace table ... it did appear to like the butter bowl.
The two attempts to pour a beer from the tap ... the silent I am out of here and somebody else must have been summoned.
You don't laugh
The guy who thought nobody could see him peeing in the grounds when he could not find the toilet ... or could not bother looking.
The racism ... at dinner there were two tables overlooking the car park ... the Anglos had these ... the tables overlooking the gardens were for those with the local language ... and the dismissive "sit over there" compared to a welcoming approach was more than evident.

Exceptional hotel with great territory and view
It was really one of the beat hotels I ever visit. I am not sure about the stars , but it does feel like 5 stars hotel
Breakfast was outstanding.
Rooms are nice , spacious , clean and well decorated
Everything was really great -
Top - excepting a few details
Wonderful location, outdooor area and nearby beach. The small exceptions that add up: lots of crumbs under our table at first evening dinner. Two waitresses who ran as best they could during breakfast time and forgot things we asked for in the hurry. Maybe add more staff because the girls were sweet and helpful. No replenishing of tea taken in the room. Apart for this great food and recommendation of wine for the evenings. Very sweet staff!
