  • Poor state of repair and quality

    by helderp2017 on 2020-01-08 11:57 am

The quality of the room was poor with paper thin walls and soft mattress and linen in need of replacement. Public areas and breakfast room not in keeping with a quality hotel. Service was slow at the cocktail bar and prices exhorbitant

  • No Sound Proofing

by magnian on 2020-01-07 01:57 am

Lovely looking hotel but fell down on rooms that were not sound proofed. Large room with sea view, comfortable bed, tiny hand towels, could not wrap up my hair after washing and i have a small head!
Breakfast is great and a lovely view. Our last evening though we had to move as a baby had arrived next door, and none stop crying, not the babys fault though.. Why put a young couple in a room with an a joining door next to a older couple ?

    Owner Response

Please excuse us for the nuisances you experienced in our hotel and do not hesitate to call the front desk if you need larger towels or have any problems during your next stay.

We were delighted to welcome you and are now impatient to receive you again for another stay, perfect this time.
Until your return please accept our warmest regards and our best wishes for year 2020.

  • Classic, elegant property in a charming town by the sea

    by LawrenceJ828 on 2019-12-23 09:56 am

Classic, old property in the town of Cabourg, located right on the beach. You can tell there is a lot of charming history in this hotel.

Room: We booked a large 2 BR suite. We had 1 King bed and the other BR had 2 twin beds. Rooms were classically decorated, very cozy and clean. Large bathroom with both a tub and a separate shower stall that had multiple shower heads. Living room had a pull out sofa sleeper and a large dining table for 4 people.

Service: we were there during off season so there probably were not more than 10 rooms occupied while we were there. Front desk and dining staff spoke English and were professional and polite.

Location: 5 minute walk to the downtown area of Cabourg, which is only 4-6 blocks long, but had numerous shops and restaurant choices. Property is right on the beach, which must be amazing during the summer. We were probably a 90 minute drive from the Normandy D-Day sites.

Food: Nice breakfast buffet with a good selection of pastries, eggs, and meats. Nice cozy little bar in the lobby with a terrific bartender.

  • Elegance and Luxury by the sea

    by Dane M on 2019-12-16 05:42 am

Even if you did not know that the Grand Hotel was, ever since the turn of the XXth century,a favorite haven to writers and artists, you will be enchanted by its unique style, a spectacular combination of classicism and modernity. The dining-room, a marvelous balcony overlooking the English Channel, serves gourmet breakfasts, luncheons and dinners featuring an array of fresh seafood and meats cooked to perfection. Facing the beach or the gardens, the rooms and suites reflect the beauty, elegance and utmost comfort of this Normandy Institution. A weekend at the Grand Hotel is a fabulous experience you owe it to yourself!

  • GREAT HOTEL BUT NEEDS SERVICE UPGRADE

    by STEVEN034 on 2019-11-25 06:42 am

Positives for us were large centrally located hotel
Great breakfast and good coffee which is included as well.
Excellent large bedrooms with high ceilings .

    Negatives were
Long wait at reception and at breakfast with too few staff, plus seemingly unconcerned or aware of waiting guests.
Car parking spaces in front of hotel can be taken by anyone, so bad luck if they are all taken with non guests.
Main restaurant looked great, but the menu seemed to cater only for those wanting traditional French fare of Rabbit, Veal and Pidgeon.
Not a plain fish or steak to be had.
