    We are in Chicago to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. The hotel upgraded us to an executive room - which was a wonderful surprise. Ernest who runs the breakfast buffet in the 23rd floor is an absolute joy. He knew all our names. Such a friendly guy. The hotel is ideally situated for everything. A little disappointed that the pool was closed and our room was next door to the lifts so quite noisy. But as we had free breakfast and non alcoholic drinks and snacks during the day we were happy to accept it. The bar has a real buzz about it. Thank you for making our anniversary so special.

    Had a great time. Issues are minor: 1) parts of hotel were under renovation while we were there (pool and lobby), and I was not aware this would be the case; 2) no complimentary coffee (not even coffee maker in room!); 3) snacks are available for purchase in room and are placed out in the open, right next to TV -- it's very tough on kids (and grownups!) to stare at lots of yummy treats but not be able to eat. Wish they had been tucked away in cabinet or something where we could avoid.

    Our experience with the Palmer House has NOT been a good one. I have a conference to attend so we came to Chicago a couple days early to enjoy the city. Once we arrived our room was nothing like the room that was pictured. Mattress was horrible! Room was tiny. They did move us to the room type we actually reserved and paid for but not until the next day. They told us to contact the front desk at 11:00 am the following day and they would upgrade our room at no cost. Of course when we called at 11:00 the room was not ready. We told them we had tickets for a play at 2:00. We finally get a call the room is ready. We go to the front desk and the attendant is taking her time. It is now 1:30. I tell her we have to be at a play at 2:00. She says if you will give me a moment I will have you on your way and you will make your appointment. I said are you sure we are going to have time to move rooms and get to the play? She says absolutely. She finally hands us the keys. The hotel never offered any assistance to help move our luggage or get us to the play. We were late for the play so we weren't allowed to sit in the 2nd row seats we had purchased until after intermission. Also, the "free upgraded room" they moved us to was the type room that was pictured across the internet as the historic & hip king room, which is what our reservation was for and we paid for. They did NOT upgrade our room at no cost. I was extremely disappointed in this hotel.

  • Beautiful & Convenient Hotel!

    I cannot rate this hotel high enough! It's close to everything you need in Chicago! The lobby is fantastic and a nice place to hangout in and have drinks in the evening. Staff was phenomenal and accommodating. When you check in you get texts asking how everything is and the responses are always quick when you have questions. The nicest Hilton hotel I've stayed in!

  • Everything is old

    Great historic hotel and everything here is old and outdated. Personnel was terrible from front desk to restaurant hosts. hotel needs a major renovation. I This place should be a museum and facilities and service seems like they are stuck in time. Only great thing is close to everything. Definitely would not recommend this place to anyone.
