    by chriszV3161OE on 2019-11-12 06:40 am

This hotel is unreal! It's had a big make over and it looks fantastic! The swimming pool is beautiful a great place to chill as your sipping back on the fantastic cocktails they have to offer! We also had the pleasure of meeting the food and beverage manager (Greg) he couldn't do enough for us! The food is unreal! It's has a gym with steam room and sauna! This place does not disappoint in any way! Will look forward to staying again.

  • Old World charm and luxury all the way!

by VitaliyS on 2019-11-10 01:15 am

We stayed (family of 2 adults and 2 kids) only for 1 night during our family trip to Asia at the very end of Oct 2019. However, this was enough to fall in love with this place. I do not have proper words to describe the beauty and charm of this Grand hotel. First opened in 1932, hotel did go through different periods and several closures throughout its history, however since mid 90s when it was acquired by Raffles it is an epitome of luxury. Most recently hotel underwent major refurbishment and re-opened its doors only on Oct, 1 2019. Thus, we did have a privilege of being one of the first guests after the renovation. I want to start by highlighting the level of service - it is impeccable. From the moment we arrived till the moment we left the hotel we did have a very special feeling of being pampered and treated like royalty. Even despite the fact that our stay did directly coincide with the visit of one of European leaders who was staying at Raffles (we arrived to the hotel just at the moment when he was there and his huge cortege was waiting outside) I have to mention that hotel team managed to handle this situation really great. On arrival we were greeted with cold towels and welcome drinks, then being Accor Platinum members, we were provided with small gift from the hotel - Raffles branded Kramas (it is Cambodian traditional scarf) for all of us. To cover for minimal inconveniences during arrival hotel also extended this small gift to family of our friends who arrived with us - what a great and pleasant touch and what an illustration of hotel's perfect customer service. We booked a Colonial Suite, however being Platinum members were upgraded to Cabana Suite (new name after refurbishment is Raffles Suite) - which in my opinion is really the best rooms they have. Hotel has only 6 Cabana Suites all located in new wing of the hotel on the ground floor -Suite consists of Living room, Bedroom, 2 bathrooms (one with walk-in shower and other with gorgeous free-standing bathtub) and plenty of storage space. Rooms have high ceilings with wooden ceiling fans, quality furniture in French-Indochina style and cute touches (like rotary phones or old-style electricity switches). 4-poster bed is huge and super comfortable, minibar is well stocked and for Platinum members all soft drinks are free, bathroom amenities from Christian Lacroix are completing the picture. Our children found in the room small gifts from the hotel - teddy bears with raffles Logo - again what a nice touch. While description of this Gorgeous suite would be incomplete without mentioning of huge terrace spanning in front of both rooms with sofa, table and chairs, it is opening to hotel's garden and provides direct access to the pool which is very convenient. Hotel's territory although not very big, is very lavishly decorated, full of greenery with huge 36m long pool (according to hotel staff the biggest hotel's pool in Cambodia) provides perfect background for relaxation. Cocktails at the pool are very good and on top of towels, hotel offers from time to time complimentary water and fruit service for pool guests - again small while very nice touch. Hotel's public areas are tastefully decorated in colonial style and bringing you back in time to the bygone era. In the evenings live piano music is complimenting the atmosphere. One of the highlights of the hotel is old elevator dd back to end of 1920s"" which was installed in the hotel even before it was officially opened - remarkable that this elevator is still in service and all guests can try this historic artefact. Elephant bar has a lot of character and cocktails they serve are simply amazing, among traditional cocktails they also have unique one's worth trying, one of them is Airavata, their signature cocktail - a delicious blend of rum, coconut passion, lime juice, cr?me de banana and pineapple & coconut juice, served in very special glass with Elephant's heads. Breakfast - deserves special mentioning - I would not go to very much details - just will say I'm really frequent traveler and use to stay in Luxury 5 start hotels - this breakfast was among the best in the list both in terms of food selection, food quality and service (few highlights include GH Mumm Champagne and according to my wife's words best ever Salmon Egg Benedict, even porridge was exceptional - as our children who usually not very keen on eating even one portion asked for 2nd and 3rd ?). We also did have traditional dinner with Cambodian dance show which hotel organizes in the outdoor restaurant - food was super delicious and show was great, price was also more than adequate (35 USD per person plus taxes) - worth visiting. Hotel also offers free historic tours of the property which we took, and it was very nice one telling us about history of the place. We as well attended Cocktail master class organized by the hotel (also complimentary) where we were shown on how to prepare famous Singapore Sling cocktail invented in Raffles Singapore. Before finishing the review I have to say once again huge thanks to the whole Raffles team - they all did amazing job and made our stay and unforgettable one. We did have a lot of interactions with many staff members and they were all very nice, pleasant and knowledgeable, fulfilling all our even smallest requests quickly and efficiently. Special thanks to - our personal Concierge (apologies I forgot the name) - he was really amazing, Sambo Pot (Resident Curator) was also very helpful during our stay. I also met with Vincent Gernigon, Hotel's manager, with whom we did have quite long and very nice conversation, I think he with his Management team managed to create welcoming environment where every guest feels welcomed, special and properly looked after - this is the way to go for any hotel and Grand Hotel Angkor managing this in perfect way so far. So we wish future prosperity to the hotel and definitely recommend this excellent property for everyone who is looking for luxurious retreat in Siem Reap.

  • Amazing

We had the privilege of staying here and having stayed at a few luxury hotels before, can safely say this is the best. The elephant bar surpasses the equivalent in Singapore, the myriad of fine cocktails and the restaurant food attached to the hotel are out of this world. Service was top level and I've never had such good quality room service!

  • personal touch, great for food allergies

by VJunn on 2019-11-04 02:54 pm

We have stayed at a number of good hotels but we thought Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor, Siem Reap stood out for its personal touch. It was lovely to experience staff addressing us by name and small gestures like having lotuses sent to our room in a vase as we enjoyed the lotus folding workshop so much.
    Attentive and cheerful service
We don't think we could have had a peaceful stay if it wasn't for the Head chef Ms Angela Brown. Our child has multiple food allergies including nuts and shellfish. Angela really went out of her way to make sure our child could enjoy the delicious food at the hotel, safely. The bakery items made by her team under her watchful supervision, meant a happy morning at breakfast and this means a lot to us. Angela always accompanied the food to the table with her friendly and reassuring smile and that made a big difference as we knew the food was safe and we didn't need to worry. So THANK YOU Angela for all your help- you were absolutely terrific! I would definitely recommend anyone with food allergies to be taken care of by Angela and her team.
The service team including the head chef came to say goodbye as we left the hotel. That in itself was unique.

  • A Wondrous Place!

I wish I could have this dream of staying in this magnificent hotel forever and ever! My nephew and my mother enjoyed our stay so much. Everything in the hotel is perfect- antique furnitures under romantic lighting and ceiling fan. A lovely veranda. Hefty and healthy breakfast options. Attentive and well-trained staff. Beautiful garden maintained by a Frenchman! Huge swimming pool. The hotel is well known amongst the locals as the hotel to be in Siem Reap. It made me proud somewhow to stay here. Thank you Mr. Saravann and to the FOM, Mr. Rey Moraga. You made our stay here an utter bliss!
