  • We will be back next winter!

by shadoww on 2019-03-24 12:57 am

I have lived an hour from St Andrews my whole life and this was our first visit to The Algonquin. Friends of ours go there often and love it so we thought we would try it fir a romantic night away. What a beautiful place, the history alone made us feel in awe. We loved our room, we had a king room on the third floor with a small balcony, it was over the courtyard but we could see the ocean as well. We got the bed and breakfast package which was priced more than reasonable. We spent the afternoon in the bar and lounge people watching and enjoyed drinks. We decided to have supper there as well, it was the only thing about our stay we felt disappointed. I think a nice steak dinner should have a choice other than fries. In the evening we went downstairs to listen to karaoke, which was very entertaining.
Every staff we encountered was exceptional and friendly, from wait staff, to cleaners, to front desk. We also did the ghost tour which was interesting. Loved the history of this place, we felt like we were back in time! It was a fantastic getaway and we are going to make it a yearly visit now.

  • Algonquin Resort Staycation

    by R8132ZRlindaw on 2019-03-22 08:14 am

We opted to enjoy a quick trip to St Andrews for our anniversary this year booking their Staycation package. I highly recommend this resort and the Staycation package, it's been amazing. The package includes two nights accommodation, two breakfasts, a dinner, five drink tickets per person plus a $ 50.00 resort credit. The credit can be used in the restaurant or spa, and trust me the spa is amazing, I just had the most amazing facial and my husband enjoyed his massage.
The staff have been accommodating and friendly, including Sidney and Bentley- the Labrador welcome committee.
We've been enjoying this resort for 15 years, it never disappoints.

  • One Of A Kind In Canada

by VictoriaStJohn on 2019-03-19 03:01 pm

My oldest and dearest friend joined me for a weekend at the Algonquin for a quiet, relaxing weekend and we now have many amazing memories which will last a lifetime. The drive from Saint John is easy and spectacular and the property is like no other in Canada. A short walk to St. Andrews by-the-Sea, which is a walk back in time to the charm of the Maritimes. You won't find a better spot than Braxton's for an amazing and intimate dinner by a grand fireplace. We also did wine and dessert over a board game or perhaps Rummy 500 (our game) at the same table! What a treat! Lydia at the Front Desk was an absolute delight and made sure we had everything we needed for our entire stay. And if you want a real one-of-a-kind experience you will never forget, ask Josh for a private tour of the hotel. The Algonquin is believed by many to be haunted. Our tour with Josh was first rate and an incredible journey back in time. Josh was an amazing tour guide and made us feel safe the whole time. Trust me when I say all of the "spirits" of the Algonquin are welcoming and very friendly. "Bentley" the resident Black Lab is the friendliest lobby dog who said good morning to us every day. The Algonquin will forever have a very special in our hearts. Should be on everyone's bucket list.

  • Excellent option for March break!

by carolinebrunell on 2019-03-07 10:49 am

We decided to stay in New Brunswick rather than travel outside of province for March break with our two daughters aged 8 and 10. We booked a suite for two nights. I want to commend the staff for trying their utmost best to keep everyone happy and entertained. Activities were planned daily, including crafts and movie night and thoughtful touches like providing coffee and tea for parents during these activities were noted. Our girls were excited everyday to be greeted by Bentley and Sydney, the two well-behaved black labs! Reasonably priced meals were offered (including kid friendly three course meals for $10) at the hotel restaurants. Of course, the pool and slide were also a hit.
We often take the time to write a review only to complain. I want to take the time to say well done for making our stay enjoyable!

  • My favourite hotel

by jensatravellin on 2019-02-19 02:56 pm

This was my third stay at the hotel. I've stayed here when it was Fairmont hotel many years ago and the quality of this hotel has not changed. There's something about this hotel that I can't put my finger on but it's one of my absolute favourite hotels. I love the old charm of the main building but there's nothing that's dated about it. The roaring fireplaces are so cosy and make me want to stay forever.
The purpose of this visit was for a hockey tournament. Lots of kids and families and everything we smoothly. The pool and water slide entertained the kids while the parents sat back and relaxed. I used the exercise room,m and hot tub. All amazing! The kitchenette room had everything we needed and even added a cot ($35/night) with no problems. Accommodating staff, great rooms, amazing pool area with the views of the oceans around the corner. What more could ask for?'
