  • Fairytales are made of

    by Tammy W on 2019-05-11 06:48 am

We stayed at the resort for two nights in April with our dog. Our room was beautiful and there was a pillow for Jack and doggy dishes to welcome him! So cute. The grounds around the resort I would often see deer they seem to be everywhere. We ate at the restaurant both nights. Amazing food, so delicious. Very expensive but worth it. Everyone at the resort was so accommodating. The resort is beautiful and you feel like you are experiencing history just driving up to it. Cannot say enough about it...add to your bucketlist! The city is so charming and everywhere you go the people are so friendly. Shops are awesome. Walked the many beaches when the tide was out and collected shells and sea glass. I regret not being able to stay longer.

  • Birthday trip made perfect

    by Lynne S on 2019-05-09 02:20 pm

This was our second trip to the Algonquin. Our room was upgraded to a king bed overlooking the second floor patio. It was gorgeous! The bed was amazing...the best I've experienced. There was a surprise birthday treat delivered to our room.
    We love the pool complex.
The outdoor fire pits were available.
There's nothing like this old world architecture and the Algonquin experience.
The bathroom was updated but oh my, the toilet was in front of the door and made for a tight space...a bot poorly designed.

  • Great stay

Great stay as it always is at the Algonquin. We always enjoy the Restaraunt and the indoor pool area. We ordered dessert through room service and it was brought up quickly. We love how plush the bedding and towels are. The beds are so comfortable. We loved the free loofah in the bathroom and the large window in the room.

Only things that could be improved are the pillows in the room are very soft. There was quite a bit of noise from the hallway this stay, but we were located near one of the central stairwells. We know it's not the norm here, there were quite a few kids staying in the hotel this particular weekend, no doubt excited to be at an amazing property with a water slide.

We are wondering why you stopped bringing in the Aveda bathroom amenities and the Starbucks in room coffee? The Pharmacopia amenities are not that great. Please consider getting the Aveda products back, or even the Soapbox Bath Amenities would be nice to see.

  • Algonquin By The Sea

I'm finally getting around to my reviews of last October's trip from El Paso to P.EI., CA via Boston, New Hampshire, Maine, New Brunswick and back!

The Algonquin sits on a picturesque hill and is SO reminiscent of the locale of one of my favorite movies: Dirty Dancing. The main lodge is classic architecture with large open rooms with cozy sitting areas complete with fire places and games.

We did not eat at the hotel, but saw lots of mouth watering food go past us as we played gin next to a roaring fire.

The large ocean facing screened porch hosts scads of comfy chairs and a spectacular view of the manicured rolling green lawns and the sea in the distance.

Our room, albeit TINY, had space for the sinfully comfortable queen bed and a dresser, and was luxuriously appointed. The minuscule bath was clean and had lots of yummy smells bath goods.

The staff was stellar. Helpful, knowledgeable and friendly! Traveling, as always with my ADA service dog Colby, was a breeze as they welcomed him generously.

The huge indoor pool was in use by local Boys and Girls club kids the day we were there, but the torrential rain made that fine for us. (We live in the desert with a pool at home). It was, however, an impressive pool area. A great family location!

I hope to return and spend more time wandering, enjoying evening events, and trying the local food in more detail. One night was not enough to explore the amazing architecture and the ambiance of St Andrews village.

Going in off season-we had a great rate. Free parking. Worth the trip across the border if you find yourself wandering in far north Maine!

  • Beautiful hotel, Top Service

by Webstersquare on 2019-04-13 06:51 am

We stayed for two nights in April 2019 and loved the area. The rooms were comfortable and clean and the bathroom was very modern with a glass walk in shower. Everyone was friendly and courteous. While we were there we were treated to the twice yearly craft show and met very nice folks. I was a little disappointed that the coffee and juice were not included in the price of breakfast which ended up a little pricy. I would stay again.
