The Fullerton Hotel Singapore

Overview
Once a former Post Office and minutes from the main shopping belts and business district, The Fullerton Hotel Singapore’s Neoclassical rooms, soaring Doric columns and breathtaking Marina Bay views are matched by the luxury hotel’s impeccable personalised service and warm surroundings. Truly, as noted by a Condé Nast Traveler review, The Fullerton Hotel has captured “the personality of a heritage hotel” and “surrounds its guests with a surprisingly refreshing ambiance of peace and tranquility.”
Built in 1928, the original Fullerton Building resides in a historic location in the heart of the financial and arts districts. Named after Robert Fullerton, the first Governor of the Straits Settlements in 1826-1829, this building was commissioned as part of the British colony’s centennial celebrations in 1919, with the primary intent to create office space.
In 2001, The Fullerton Hotel was officially launched. Following a four-year renovation, the building reopened right in the heart of Singapore’s bustling Central Business District as The Fullerton Hotel. Retaining much of its original features, the luxurious 5-star grande dame is quite extraordinary for the scale and quality of its restoration. With 400-rooms kitted out in state-of-the-art technology and amenities, as well as a sleek modern Art Deco interior, the hotel has won the hearts of its guests for its blend of modernity, luxurious living, elegance and nostalgia.
The ultimate accolade to The Fullerton Hotel’s rich heritage came on 7 December 2015 when the building was gazetted as Singapore’s 71st National Monument. The honour marked yet another milestone in the building’s record of historic importance.
The Fullerton Hotel Singapore, a charter member of Historic Hotels Worldwide since 2011, dates back to 1928.
The northern end of the building covers the site of Fort Fullerton, a fort built in 1829 to defend the settlement against any naval attacks. When the fort was later expanded, a sandstone monolith, the Singapore Stone, was discovered with an inscription potentially dating back to the 13th century.
