  • My 27th year of staying at GPI

I attend the annual Arts and Crafts conference held each February at this hotel. My room was on the Palm Court in the Main Inn, which gives you a great feel for what the hotel was like in 1913. The room was fresh and clean and my only complaint was one of the chairs blocked access to one side of the bed (room 343). Other than that, no issues.

I gifted my girlfriend with a stay at the Grove Park Inn. We had eaten lunch and dinner there many times and always wanted to stay there. Due to an onlne offer I received I was able to afford it. I had selected the lowest price room (double queen in the historic inn) and to our delight upon check in, they had upgraded us to a premium king room with mountain view! The room # was 8029. It was very nice to say the least. We spent quite a bit of time with the windows open, sitting in the chairs just enjoying the view from our room. The fireplaces in the lobby are wonderful to just sit in front of. We mainly ate at Edison which was very good and moderately priced. I opted for the breakfast buffet option at Blue Ridge and it was excellent. Unfortunately the Sunset Terrace is closed this time of year. She wanted the Spa experience so we got a massage which was relaxing. The Spa is amazing. Very quiet and the pools are incredible. Since we were celebrating her birthday I spoke to the concierge to see if they could do anything special for her. He set us up with a champagne and cheese plate delivered to our room! I opted for self parking which was $15 a night (valet was $22). All of the staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful. It's not a cheap place to stay but for a special occasion or just indulge yourself it's well worth it

Beware of staying on the third or fourth floors of the Vanderbilt Wing. We now know, unfortunately too late, this is the "pet friendly" section of the resort.
We had the unfortunate bad luck to be booked into a room on the fourth floor with an incessant barking dog and owner next door who moved in during our stay.
When we complained, the hotel staff came to check it out. No one answered the door (the dog was left unattended) which according to their pet policy is immediate cause for removal of the pet. Not only was the pet not removed, we were awakened by the barking later that night! Again staff came up and talked to the owner who answered the door this time. Still no removal of the dog. We were told we could move to another room. At night. While we were in bed. How gracious of them to expect us to pack up all of our belongings, relocate to another room, unpack and finally get to go back to bed. We asked why the dog and owner didn't have to move or leave. Management told us because they were part of a family who had other rooms on the floor. In other words, we were 'only' paying for one room and they were paying for three!
We were scheduled for another nights stay but after turning down the gross inconvenience of moving and being awakened yet again at 6:45 am the next morning by the barking dog, we decided to check out a day early.
We were offered $75 off of our three night ($1,500+) stay. No apology was given for the horrible way we were treated.

  • Beautiful historic hotel

The Omni Grove Park Inn is a delight to visit. It is a beautiful historic hotel, with appropriate modern touches. If you love the vintage feel, stay in the "main building". If you wish a more modern feel, stay in the Vanderbilt or Sammons wings.

Thank you for sharing; we couldn't have said it better ourselves! The Inn, set atop Sunset Mountain since 1913, features guest rooms with spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and its lush Donald Ross-designed golf course. Choose one of our historic Main Inn rooms, furnished with Roycroft Arts & Crafts decor, or opt for something larger and more modern in our Sammons and Vanderbilt wings, including our exclusive Club Floor. We hope you will return to find the perfect accommodations for you and your family.

  • If you love Arts and Crafts style, this is a Must See

We visited for the annual Arts and Crafts Conference in February. We didn't stay at the hotel (a bit too pricey for us), but we enjoyed all the craftsman furnishings. It is worth it just to walk through the lobby and common areas to see all the great pieces. One hint . . . when we visited we could park in the basement garages for free for three hours. If you come in from Macon Ave, drive past the valet parking area to the Sammon garage.

    Owner Response
Thank you for visiting the 33rd Annual Arts & Crafts Conference. If you are interested in returning, the 34th Annual Arts & Crafts Conference will be held February 19 - 21, 2021. Guests can drive up to the main entrance of The Omni Grove Park Inn and be assisted by a Valet for $22 for overnight guests and $15 for day guests. Garage parking is also available; the first three (3) hours are complimentary, 3-6 hours is $10 and 6-24 hours is $15.
