  • Good Upscale Hotel

    A rather solid upscale hotel which still does not quite reach the full five star luxury. Review based on a one night stay in February (background of spending 80+ nights per year in different hotels around the globe).

    Well located "in the middle of action" with multiple restaurants, bars, theatres, museums and shops within walking distance. Busses go right next to the hotel, the nearest Tube station (Temple) is perhaps 300m away.

    Got a basic room at 2nd floor which was quite small even on London standards, basically just about enough space to squeeze between TV and the bed.

    The room has been renovated not too long ago, didn't see any stains or signs of usage anywhere. The d?cor was very standard, nothing really to write home about. The highlight of the room was clearly the bathroom which was really unique, both in shape and the way it looked.

    Two bottles of water received as complimentary.

    Quite quiet room with no noise from the outdoor, little from the corridor

    Unfortunately didn't have time to have breakfast so no comment there.

    Fast & friendly check-in & out.

    Would I return there?
    Yes I would, a well located good hotel even though not really ?ber-luxury as such

  • Unlimited Champagne Afternoon Tea - Very disappointing

    We were really looking forward to a champagne afternoon tea as part of our daughters 18th Birthday celebrations but unfortunately we appeared to be sat on the "Forgotten Table"
    When we arrived the manager was on the telephone and we were just left standing waiting to be seated until eventually another staff member came over.
    After being seated we waited for about 10 mnutes until the same manager came over to our table and asked if we were being served. He then came back and served us each wih a glass of champagne.
    A very nice waitress then came over and explained the afternoon tea menu to us and returned with a small number of sandwiches on individual plates explaining she would bring more sandwiches once we had eaten those.
    We drank our glass of champagne and when my husband asked if we could have some more the manager started telling us we would have to pay extra. He clearly did not know we had made a booking with unlimited champagne. We explained the booking and were served with another glass of champagne but this was definitely not an "unlimited" service.
    We finished the small number of sandwiches served and had to ask if we could have some more. The manager then brought over a plate which had three extra finger sandwiches and three belini style sandwiches for the FOUR of us to share.
    As it was our daughters birthday the nice waitress brought over a chocolate cake for our daughter which was beautifully decorated and sang Happy Birthday. She then explained she was going off duty.
    After this not a single person came over to serve our table and in the end we had to call a waitress and ask if she could box the cakes that my husband had left as he does not eat cakes or scones and our daughter wanted to take them home.
    The cake box arrived but there was no bill and after waiting a further 10 minutes we assumed there was no further bill to pay as we had pre-paid with a voucher.
    As we were leaving the girl at the desk called to us and told us there was extra to pay. A weekend charge of ?5 each and a service charge of ?16. This was the only time when we appeared to have the attention of a staff member.
    The food itself was good as you would expect from a five star hotel but in comparison to other comparable hotels in London it was not up to standard.

    The hotel staff is upmost premium quality. You feel worshipped and at the center of attention. Great experience. The hotel has an old but luxurious interior. Would recommend this hotel to anyone!!!!!!

  • Fantastic Hotel

    I had a 3 night stay as part of my work conference in January. Just a beautiful hotel. My room overlooked Aldwych and I thought it would be noisy with the traffic but the room was well sound proofed and I didn't hear anything. Lovely toiletries provided in the bathroom. The buffet breakfast had a fantastic selection. All in all a lovely stay.

    From ariving and walking into the wardolf everything was perfect everyone was attentive, checking we had everything we needed,friendly but not over so ,All staff wish you a happy day and some inquire with interest where you ve been or what you re doing.
