    My daughter picked this lovely city for an overnight visit. The hotel looked beautiful online. We are not disappointed. The staff is warm and friendly. Our room is just like the pictures. The wine by the glass selections in the bar are the best I ever had. We did not have enough time to enjoy the spa, unfortunately. We will definitely come back.

  • Perfect location

    Stayed for one night only and did not have that much time to enjoy the facilities. We however very much enjoyed the central location, very close to the old town. Our room faced the center but I did not find the traffic to be disturbing.
    The garden in the back yard is very pretty and I can imagine how nice it is in the warmer months to sit out there for a coffee. Would love to come back and try that.
    Comfortable beds and clean.

    A very good and charming hotel. It has all what is needed and the Grandeur of a Grand Hotel. We found a very accommodating and flexible team and were pleased with room service and bar. We would always come back. Thank you all for a great stay.

  • Some truth in the negative reviews - but I would recommend

    This looked like the sort of hotel that I would like, but I was almost put off by the other reviews. There were a lot of comments along the lines of 'not 5 star', over-designed, weird shower, poor breakfast and staff.

    I can see the truth in some of those comments, but not others. It isn't a 5 star hotel (whatever that means in 2020). It's sub-EUR200 per night - you can't expect the 4 Seasons. But it is certainly a lot better than a Mercure/Novotel. The hotel is very 'designed' through its modern refurb, and it is very French in the sense that the look clearly has priority over function. There was a large orange chair in our room which looked great - but the room simply wasn't big enough for it. I had to climb over it to get into bed. The shower is a hand-shower which is have seen in unrefurbished hotels, but not newer ones. If you understand how to use it (shower and soap alternately, not at the same time) it's fine. But you don't need to be learning how to shower differently when you stay for one night.

    The comments about breakfast and staff were absolutely not my experience. The breakfast was fantastic quality in a beautiful dining room. All the staff interactions were incredibly warm (a very different service style to 'professional French'). Just lovely people.

    My biggest niggle is the wifi. Upload speed was under 1mbps. That's unusable for video calling, or uploading holiday photos. In a hotel of this standard, targeting business meetings, that's unacceptable. I had exactly the same problem at another M Gallery property 3 weeks earlier.

    Overall, I had a lovely stay and would stay again. So don't be put off by the other reviews!

    One other tip is that the Darcy Liberte public parking right by the hotel is much cheaper, and just as convenient. That said, hotel parking is 'only' EUR15 per night - not terrible in a city centre.

    Regarding our wifi connection, we have the high level connection possible from our provider. I don't know if you have use our wifi with a computer or with a mobile phone. The problem with mobile phone, that you must switch off cellular network and only switch on the wifi, if you do not do that the cellular network will always take the lead on the wifi. We know that is not convenient, but it is the best solution from our provider. We are very sorry for this problem that you have encountered during your stay with us.

    Concerning our parking, I agree that city parking could be cheaper, but when you use our parking, you also have our valet service to park your car, and assistance for yours luggage.

  • Sort of going through the motions.....

    The hotel has a great location adjacent to the fab old town and all that if offers.
    The rooms are certainly clean and comfortable with quality beds to ensure a good night's sleep - that's very important in my book.
    However, I did note a previous review by Jock M in September did mention the lack of a shower screen in room 106 which you said you were addressing.
    Strange that, as we stayed in 106 and guess what? Yep - no shower door.
    That's hardly 5 star service.
    There are a few other areas that need improvement.
    For the price charged, some of the breakfast items being offered are way below par. In particular the hot section is unappetising. The bacon is fatty and undercooked ( maybe not even fried or grilled), likewise the sausages lack colour and texture. The scrambled eggs, on the other hand, were overcooked and tasteless.
    Lastly, whilst the reception crew are efficient and friendly enough for a true five star experience I'd expect more personal skills and attention.
