Hotel Brosundet

History
Originally a seafront fish storage and treatment warehouse built following a catastrophic fire in 1904, Hotel Brosundet is an architectural catch in the heart of historic Ålesund featuring a distinctive Art Nouveau build and a coverted lighthouse suite with thoughtful renovations and upgrades by renown Norwegian architectural house, Snøhetta. Hotel Brosundet celebrates the historic significance of its past while maintaining an innovative focus that is reflected in the design and decor of the property incorporating the original wooden and brick foundation materials with contemporary fixings. Though its doors has closed as a seafood warehouse in the 1980s, Hotel Brosundet still welcomes the fresh catch of the day to its premier seafood restaurant, Maki.
Hotel Brosundet, a charter member of Historic Hotels Worldwide since 2012, dates back to 1904.
