  • Wonderful, wonderful, just wonderful

    Sweeping sea views, historical building, location, location, location and the staff! Superb staff, and we encountered at least 2 dozen of great staff, all of them unitedly demonstrating omotenashi beyond many of the top ryokans we stayed in our travels across japan. We sent a bag days before arrival, and they kept it for us, no charges. Service and warmth beyond any city hotel I encountered.
    Really uxurious hotel, ridiculously great value for the price we paid.

  • Beautiful and Historic Hotel

    Our stay at the Hotel New Grand was wonderful! If you are into history, I urge you to read a little bit about its historic roots, and walk around the hotel to see some of the small exhibits. The hotel is elegant and beautiful.

    Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The staff was so welcoming and helpful from the minute we stepped in the door, making sure we had everything we needed and answering any questions about restaurants and things nearby. Absolutely top notch!

    We did not try the hotel breakfast, but instead walked (4 minutes) to A Happy Pancake for fluffy souffle pancakes - if you're wanting to try souffle pancakes, this location was wonderful and had no wait in the morning.

    We stayed here for a night before a cruise, and walked from the Hotel New Grand to Osanbashi Terminal. The walk was not very long, definitely doable for in-shape people, although be prepared for uneven surfaces which makes lugging multiple bags a challenge. We were sweating by the time we arrived at the pier, but did not regret the walk.

    We had a lovely view, and I watched the cruise ship pull into the pier in the morning, how spectacular! I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Yokohama!

Although it is just about 15 minute walk to Osanbashi pier from us, it will make a quite exercise when carrying bags. Located right in the historical center of the city and ocean front since 1927, our guests have been impressed with spectacular view of their cruise ship coming into and going out of Yokohama bay. We hope we will be your choice again when coming back to Japan and will be ready to assist you to find even more attractive things here in Yokohama.

  • Elegant Hotel

    This was my second time staying near yamashita park and my first at New Grand. This hotel is old but elegant. We could not fault any of the staff. From the greeting staff at the door to concierge and the front desk, they were all quick to help and friendly. We had a Japanese breakfast, we weren't quite sure if there was an order to it or we were supposed to eat it a certain way but we enjoyed it very much. The Hotel New Grand is very convenient to the MM6 subway line, China Town and many other requirements. For visiting Australians though, please note, coffee and tea are not included in your room Tarif however I would definitely stay here again.

  • Japan tour

    We were there for the Typhoon & earthquake - and survived on the 14th floor!
    The location next to Chinatown & the water is great, and its a 10-15 minute walk to the station.
    As usual the staff are well trained and very friendly, and breakfast for us was more than adequate.
    Also it had the largest room on our entire tour.

  • Attended a Japanese style weddding

    Excellent accommodations. Very good restaurant friendly courteous staff. Every courtesy was extended during our 10 day stay at the New Grand. There is a quaint bar in the lower lever, very intimate. Bartender very well versed.

I passed on your comment to our bartender and he was very gratified to learn your kind words and asked me to send you best regards. He enjoyed serving you our signature cocktail "Martini New Grand" which was created during our 1945~1952 occupation era after WW2. A bartender improvised this cocktail substituting sherry for vermouth due to out of stock and well received among US officers. Please come and visit us again to enjoy stepping back in time atmosphere at Sea GuardianII.
