First of all, my wife and I are regulary visiting this place for the last couple of years and last year we got married in this hotel. I have said great things about this hotel last year but I just can?t stop being awed by them.
We came back for the first time after the wedding and received a personal welcome back letter from the GM and a bottle of Champagne. You just can?t describe the feeling you get when coming back every year. It is almost the same as coming home. The breakfast is AMAZING, the pool area is great, Saunas also.

The staff level is off the charts, from maids to waiters, front office (Mr. Danijel is top class), concierge and especially Ms Nermina, Event manager.

We decided to join the Kempinski loyalty program and can?t wait to come back in June 2020 for the wedding anniversary.
Give our best to the staff.

    Kind regards,

    Hribar K.

  • Concrete balcony railing blocks the ocean view

by jckirvine on 2020-02-22 09:05 pm

I chose this hotel as my last stay in Slovenia before heading home. I splurged on a room with balcony and ocean view. I saw photos of various rooms when I reserved. I specifically asked for a room where I can see the ocean in bed.

I got a room on the highest floor in the "old building". The room was luxurious and there's great ocean view from the balcony. BUT the concrete railing blocks the view. :-( I had to stand by the railing to see the view. It's a bit too hot during the daytime to stand outside. The hotel staff was apologetic. They said only the "new building" wing had see-through railing and rooms in the new wing were higher. I was very disappointed. In addition, the AC didn't work well in the room. It got way too warm for me. I complained but the maintenance never got it fixed during my 3-night stay.

The hotel has all the amenities. I enjoyed the massage in the spa. The breakfast spreads were huge. The location was great. Piran is a bus ride away. Hotel staff was very courteous. I'm ducking a star for the blocked ocean view and the AC.

    Dear Jckirvine,

Firstly I want to thank you for taking your time and reviewing our wonderful property.

Your opinion it is very important to us. Not only that it reflects the areas that we are on the right path, but it also shows areas on whitch we need to work on.

Let me focus directly on emphasized inconvenience.
I apologise that there seem to come to the misunderstanding. Usually we determine the room on wished categorisation, and the room you got was labeled as the sea view room, we apologise once more if we did not understand and take into mind your wish. And it is true that rooms in the modern part have different fences and we promise that in the future we will acknowledge your wish.

Also regarding the heating I will talk to the head of the department, to see where there seem to be a problem and why you had such an experience. We apologise for the inconvenience.

Thank you once again and also thank you for the positive comments, regarding our amenities and our staff.

    Kind regards,

  • Luxurious hotel experience in Potoroz

    by dianaa190 on 2020-01-20 05:00 am

We stayed at the Kempinski Palace in Potoroz in the off-season during January. The hotel is a beautiful landmark in the beach resort town of Potoroz offering both historic and modern luxury. The hotel is richly decorated with modern amenities, furniture and artwork. The reception and hotel staff are amazingly hospitable and professional; they will set the tone for the rest of your stay. Our room in the newer section of the hotel was one of the best hotel rooms we've ever stayed in. The hotel is walking distance to many shops and restaurants, however most were closed for the season so we spent most of our time relaxing in our room, sipping wine on our balcony overlooking the people walking along the boardwalk, and enjoying the amenities of the luxurious spa of the hotel. The spa and indoor pool areas are top-notch and we never felt that is was too crowded at any time (obviously off-season crowds are much more reasonable). The breakfast buffet was abundant and offered many choices of foods to include made-to-order eggs and coffee. The hotel bar was a perfect place to enjoy a drink or nightcap. (We did not eat at the one upscale hotel restaurant during our stay, and their casual restaurant was closed for the season). The one thing we did have to ask for was a hot water kettle to make tea in our room. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend the Kempinski Palace Portoroz for anyone looking for a luxurious hotel experience while in Potoroz.

  • The best hotel in Portoroz. A Sunday pool and sauna disaster.

    by TravelF0rW0rkAndFun on 2020-01-12 06:02 am

The best hotel in Portoro?. A central location. Staff is professional, friendly, helpful, and they act quickly. Beautiful building and impressive architecture. Delicious food in the restaurant. Breakfast is very good. Rooms are spacious, well equipped, and clean. Beds are of high quality. The room service is fast. The gym is small but good. We will definitely come back.

We rated Kempinski Portoro? four stars and not five. There is some room for improvement. Disappointments:
    - The internet in our room was awfully slow throughout our visit. I have not had so slow internet in any hotel for over ten years.
    - The Sunday in the pool and sauna area was a disaster. It was so crowded that we could not get chairs. Saunas were full and people waiting in lines to get in. Not a five-star experience at all. We paid a lot of money to relax and then we could not use what we paid for. There is a bar near the pool but it was closed. There were over 40 people by the pool, about eight people squeezing in one jacuzzi, and the pool was full too. There was only one employee working for the whole sauna and pool area. He was a pool rescue guy, and a receptionist, and floor cleaning guy, all at the same time. He was trying hard to do it all, but guests were upset. You could hear locals (primorski accent) - not guests of the hotel - in the pool and by the pool. We paid lots of money and locals come and occupy the hotel saunas, the pool, and chairs, and we could not get any chairs or sauna space. Unacceptable. Understaffed and poorly managed.
    - the pool and sauna area was dirty and smelled bad. The toilet seats, floor, and walls were dirty. 24 hours later there was still the same dirt on the toilet chairs, floor, and walls. Nobody cleaned it for 24 hours. There was an awful smell around saunas.
    - in the Turkish bath, one of the two water outlets is broken
    - in the gym, one of the two treadmills is out of service

  • Wonderful hotel

by Frankyslav on 2020-01-08 11:10 am

As usual for Kempinski, this is a top-class facility. Unmatched in Istria.
Lavish breakfast in a beautiful Crystal hall.
    Perfect service 24/7.
Comfy king size bed in a room with perfect soundproofing.
Pool and sauna areas are small, but if hotel is not crowded it is ok.
Overall yet another superb Kempinski experience.
