  • Beautiful, Ideal Location

    by GraceH99 on 2020-03-13 06:25 am

This was our first trip to Venice and will not be our last. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by the staff who were all so lovely across the whole duration of our stay. We were also offered an upgrade which we really appreciated. We now had a canal view which just made the whole experience so special. The hotel is beautifully decorated and spotless. It also took us less that 5 minutes to walk to St. Mark's square. The concierge were always striving to help and offered us a variety of excursions which they could book. Overall, this hotel made our stay in Venice extra special and we already plan to return

  • Good hotel in a lovely location!

    by EllieM1325 on 2020-03-01 11:44 am

We stayed for Valentines weekend and although very busy in Venice in general we had a lovely time. The hotel is located in a great place, close to lots of restaurants and St Marks square. The staff were so helpful particularly reception staff who provided a map and suggestions for where to go and eat etc whilst here.

We stayed in a double room, it was very spacious and the bathroom was stunning! Slight issue with the air con/heating which didn't seem to work so the room ended up so warm but nothing opening a window couldn't fix however imagine this might be a problem in summer. The tv also wouldn't work at all but again not an issue as who comes to Venice to watch tv but a slight niggle.

Overall stunning hotel & a lovely stay! Would definitely return - thank you.

  • Some serious flaws but still a beautiful hotel

by QuentinYoknapatawpha on 2020-02-22 10:02 am

This was our third visit to the Metropole. And there were some serious disappointments. We were only informed that the Met restaurant was closed after we had booked directly with the hotel (and after we tried to book a table). And, just a few days before our stay, we were also informed that the lifts weren't working. Nor did they work during the several days we were there. There was building work going on during our stay - again not something we were informed about. And, while some of the staff were absolutely lovely, especially the charming ladies who served our delicious breakfast, those on reception were cool and dour in a way that we, at least, associate with an earlier age of hotel management. We were even kept waiting for quite a while for our room, even though we had booked a ( not inexpensive) transfer from the airport and the reception staff must therefore have known when we were due to arrive.
And yet... the Metropole remains an utterly beautiful hotel in a perfect location. Both the public areas and the rooms are architectural and aesthetic jewels. And all the female staff we encountered were friendly, welcoming and impressively efficient in the most unobtrusive and helpful of ways.
In short, despite some serious flaws, this is still a beautiful hotel. I was in two minds about whether to give this visit four stars or three. But, given that our previous visits to the hotel were so special and outstanding, that the hotel is so beautiful and the female staff were so helpful and welcoming, four stars seemed only fair.

  • Ideally located hotel for the Biennale

    by Flipper9593 on 2019-12-05 05:37 pm

The beautiful rooms all individually decorated in the Metropole Hotel offer a perfect repose from the bustle of Venetian streets.
This family run hotel is a quirky, gracious and one of a kind place, with an all male staff at the front desk who are courteous and helpful with any silly tourist type question.
The Oriental Bar welcomes you at the entrance, and we've enjoyed many a cocktail there in its plush velvet surroundings. Towards the rear of the hotel is a pretty, verdant garden, and it is in the garden's loggia that breakfast is served each morning.
Favourite little cafes and restaurants abound in the narrow streets surrounding the hotel which makes a dinner selection pleasurable.
The Biennale brings us to Venice and the Metropole is an ideal refuge for us : the ideal location, a good breakfast selection each morning, high speed internet, generous sized rooms, friendly staff and a lovely refuge away from the throngs of tourists.

Very central location and very accomodating staff. I cant recommend this hotel enough. The price you pay for this type of room for a central location like Metropole is well worth it Great value for money
