  • A quality hotel to match the quality of Wolves' win

    by Steve W on 2019-08-24 03:03 am

Stayed here overnight with my elder son as the mighty Wolves beat Torino in the Europa League.
A lovely hotel, beautifully renovated and situated in a charming square with plenty of restaurants and bars. Welcoming , efficient and polite staff. An extensive breakfast buffet helped to soothe the effects of the previous night's celebrations.
Highly recommended - next time I will bring my wife!

  • Renovated with taste

by Olympicchampion on 2019-08-24 00:09 am

This is a city hotel located in the beautiful Piazza Carlina in the hearth of the old town. As it has been renovated with taste, it's a beautiful place to stay. The staff could be more friendly to make the stay more enjoyable. It's a pity that the hotel suffers from a lack of warmth.

  • Excellent in many ways

    by Gijs V on 2019-08-18 06:56 am

The NH Piazza Carlina is greatly located at the Carlo Emanuele II square in Turin. This is right within the centre on walking distance from practically everywhere. The square itself is very nice too (see my review for La Badessa).

The hotel is located in a beautiful building and the rooms are spacious, clean and tasteful. Another good thing: I didn't hear my neighbours once (I hope they say the same). But rooms are quiet. Excellent front desk and housekeeping staff. There is a good bar with an extensive menu, including sake cocktails. The gym is properly equipped and not too small.

Prices are balanced with the quality: I'd say the hotel is fairly priced. So no improvement issues? Yes there is. I found the breakfast disappointing in several ways. The buffet is the same every day, a little twist would be well. But even though there seems to be sufficient staff, it is not always easy to find a table and often some items are not refilled or at least not quickly. Orders for tea and coffee are sometimes not served at all, or very late after we finished breakfast. Quality of the food is ok, but breakfast is in my opinion not up to the standards of the rest of the hotel.

I would surely come back and would surely recommend.

  • Another Winner from NH Hotels

by claremay on 2019-08-17 09:02 am

Make no mistake about it, there's a lot to like about NH hotels, and the same can certainly be said about their NH Collection Piazza Carlina, located in the tour-worthy city of Torino,

A four-star property, the NH Piazza Carlina benefits from a superb located, directly on the busy and cafe-lined Piazza Carlo Emanuele II. This places guests of the hotel a short walk to some of Torino's most important tourist attractions, such as the superb Egyptian Museum and a couple of its most striking squares, including Piazza San Carlo and Piazza Reale.

One of the most noteworthy features of the NH Piazza Carlina is the building itself. This is a most handsome building, and NH is to be commended for completing the ambitious and seemingly monumental task of overhauling a dilapidated structure, one with much historic value, and doing so in a manner that is sensitive to the architectural origins of the building - and indeed the city of Torino - while also creating a hotel that meets the needs of the 21st century traveler.

The hotel features a superb restaurant, with the opportunity to dine in a highly atmospheric courtyard. It is here that guests of the hotel also take breakfast which, in the customary NH fashion, features a vast array taste temptations far too numerous to mention here. However, during our recent stay, we were especially pleased with the home-made pancakes and the first-rate Lavazza coffee service. Also, a special tip of the cap goes out to a particular staff member who, upon seeing that the scrambled eggs were exhausted, despite this guest desiring same, made the extra effort to ensure that a fresh order of eggs was made, despite the fact that the hotel's breakfast hours had almost ended. This act of professionalism was very much in keeping with our three night stay as the entire NH staff was unfailingly polite and helpful.

Another especially feature of the NH Piazza Carlina is its upstairs terraces. Complete with grass, excellent patio furniture, and large umbrellas, the terraces are an excellent way to enjoy a libation and reflect on a day of touring Torino. We made good use of the terraces during our stay, and it's yet another reason this hotel garners high marks. The fourth floor terrace is especially recommended as it features wonderful views of the city's signature structure, the Mole Antonelliana.

We enjoyed a fifth floor superior double room during our stay. While the room was not overly spacious, it was very clean, highly functional, and featured a small balcony which included wonderful views of the piazza below. The room also came with air conditioning, quality linens, ample closet space, a comfortable king size bed, mini bar, safe, working towel warmer, and a rainfall style shower.

The NH Piazza Carlina also has a roomy bar that is open until the wee hours of the morning, perfect for that holiday night cap.

Priced at about 180 US dolllars per night, the NH Collection Piazza Carlina represents solid value for money, especially considering what's on offer at this property. Attractive, atmospheric, and well run, this hotel represents "can't miss" lodging when staying in Torino.
